Doug Fraser Memorial Trophy
The Doug Fraser Memorial Award is in memory of one of the Club’s premier supporters and Committee members who tragically died in the January 2003, Canberra bushfires. Doug was a coach and manager of the clubs junior teams from 1988 to 1989 as well as Treasurer and a committee member for 15 years.
Through these duties Doug made an enormous number of friends and was one of the most respected members in the Club’s history. He always dedicated his energy to overcoming the financial problems of running junior sport and did this with good humour and quiet success, in doing so he gained the respect of all colleagues in the ACT football community.
Doug was a most thorough Treasurer, consistently helpful to the Committee, always positive towards all players and Club members. His value to the Club went well beyond his tangible and ongoing efforts and the dedication to the Club and junior football was excellend.
Doug Fraser memorial trophy (U12 – U16)
This memorial award is presented annually to a footballer from the Under 12 to Under 16 age group.
Criteria
This is for a player who, when they joined the juniors was not especially endowed with football ability. However, through their determination to improve, their love of football and good qualities of sportsmanship, this player has overcome their early struggles to become a talented and respected teammate and club member.
The award is not for the best footballer, but for the player who through the above dedication to self and team improvement, best exhibits the similar character of the late Doug Fraser of selfless dedication to the club.
